FUNDING SUCCESS FOR OSCAR SANDWELL (Posted Jan 17)
Thanks to Lloyds Bank Foundation in awarding OSCAR Sandwell nearly £15,000 of funding. The funding will be used to fund consultancy support and training for trustees and staff to review all policies, impact measurement tools and draft a strategic business plan. This will support the board of trustees to take the charity forward and support carers.
BLACK COUNTRY ROOTS BOOK LAUNCH (Posted Nov 16)
OSCAR Sandwell staff attended the launch of the Black Country Roots Book Launch held on the 20th Oct at the West Bromwich African Caribbean Resource Centre (WBACRC). The joint event was opened by local Councillor Jackie Taylor and Multistory. The book encompasses the stories of African-Caribbean communities in Sandwell and the Black Country in England, told in their own words. A fascinating book, that is available to buy (contact Multistory).

THE PATIENT NETWORK SUPPORT GROUP IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE FUNERAL ORGANISER (Posted Sept 16)
OSCAR Sandwell Centre Manager and Elaine Davis attended The Patient Network Support Group in association with the Funeral Organiser on 15th Sept. Presentations were given on a Will Writing Service, funeral organisation support and our very own Elaine talking about her experiences living with Sickle Cell. Very informative session.
GRAND OPENING OF FLYING TALES OF FOLKLORE AT NSDT (10th Sept 2016)
OSCAR Sandwell Centre Manager attended the Opening of the Flying Tales of Folklore Exhibition at NSDT (North Smethwick Development Trust), Smethwick, Sandwell on Saturday 10th Sept. Special Guest for the event was actress and local girl Julie Walters (who went to school in Smethwick). The exhibition included sculptures inspired by the members from Youth Quake, a Fairy Tale Nature Trail project, pictures of their work with both the artist and sculptor and storytelling. It was an informative and enjoyable event so visit NSDT to see for yourself.
